We have 5 African Greys and 1 Thimneh Grey. 2 of the African Grey birds feed each other. One of the birds has been tested by us and we know he is a male. The other one was bought on the internet from a questionable bird owner. This bird is susposed to have been tested and is susposed to be male. He is somewhat larger then the one known to be male. Greg the first one visits Dakota the second ones cage and has been observed feeding Dakota.
Answers:Being that the parrot came from a "quesionable" owner..I would bet you $10.00 that he is a she. Yes, males will sometimes feed other males. I have seen lots of bird species that bond like that and choose to live "alternative" lifestyles. Also, keep in mind that a lot of times a male bird will prefer women over men and vice versa. If you really want to be sure, get the bird DNA'd to find out if he is a she.
I think that this is possible. My female African Gray tries to feed me a human female because she is bonded with me. She will try to regurgitate, spread her wings and do that little dance. I try not to feed into it even though it is cute so as not to confuse her, but it doesn't surprise me that your bird is bonded with the other bird (male or female). It happens.
