Can anyone please tell me what kind of bird this is?

I want to use it in a story, but the website I got it off of does not say what kind of bird it is.

There are several birds which this could be, but I cannot make a positive id because there is no frame of reference to see what size the bird is and you cannot clearly see the facial markings or determine the colour of the beak with any accuracy. However I would guess it is either a Great Egret..(non breeding plumage)

it could even possibly be an immature Little blue Heron.(less likely)

Again without being able to tell the size of the bird in your picture, or clearly see the facial features I cannot say for certain. So you will have to judge for yourself as to what bird it may be. I am thinking it is a Great Egret though, especially when compared to the first picture in my answer.

I can tell you one thing for certain. it is not a crane.

Ps the picture provided by Sitboy above is not a crane, it is a Great Egret.
