No. Avian medicine isn't very advanced, unfortunately. The biggest thing in the way of preventative medicine for birds are broad spectrum antibiotics, which we all know aren't really even that great for humans, since they only make the germs stronger!

It's still a pretty good idea to take your tiel to the vet for a fecal smear after you purchase it. If it's just been weaned, they may do a crop smear, too.

Quakers are sweet animals, but they have drawbacks that not many people are willing to discuss. I used to have one, and he was a darling little headache -- it's just that many end up without homes just for being who they are. I thought you may be interested in reading this open quaker forum:

No there are no shots made for birds like you speak of, because birds cant get rabies, even though bats carry rabies they are not birds.
No they don't need shots. The only time they need a shot is if they are very sick and then sometimes the vet will give them a antibiotic shot.
There are no bird vaccinations/shots, but birds benefit from an avian vet exam once a year. The vet takes a blood sample and looks at the birds general condition, his feathers, his beak, his ears and his feet.and likes to see a sample of his "poop" to make sure all is well. Buy from a reputable dealer, who will give you some type of time limited guarantee ( usually 1-2 weeks for small birds), if something awful happens. Good luck!
Birds do not need shots as of this time. There is no single shot that has been developed yet that has any impact on birds long term health. They should NEVER be brought into a Vets office unless they are ill, as a Vets office has more icky stuff to catch then any other place.
no shots needed, but do tak them to the vet for check ups.
