First off, just assuming that it's OK to put to birds together was a mistake.here's how you introduce two birds who don't "know" each other

Buy a second cage, and set it where the first bird can see it, and hear it, "talk" to it

If things go well, on the third day.bring the cage closer, like just about 2 feet away, if things go well, the next day, move the cage next to the first.

If they continue to get along, you should let them meet on their own terms, open both cages, and SUPERVISE them while they play on top of the cage, and get to know each other, if the Original bird likes this newcommer, she will invite him (or her) to her place for some mutual grooming and lunch, if not, she may end up injuring the other bird because that is her territory and she sees the second bird as a threat!

I do with you the best of luck, but perhaps, a bit of research would have helped you more!

Buy a book on Lovebirds!

I hope the newcommer survives the night!

Its the first day I wouldnt worry yet, but I would keep an eye on her. Female lovebirds can be extremely aggressive and territorial, she may even try to kill the male if he pushes back.

It may take them anywhere from 6 mo to a year to bond and get close enough to mate to have babies. Lovebirds are very aggressive birds and can bond for life, I had one pair that the female wouldnt let any other bird near her except her chosen male.

Just be watchful

No need to change birds she is acting the way she should (protecting the nest). If you have a male and female she will not let him in until she fixes her nest her way. Give them more time to get a relationship going love does not happen over-night. When she is ready for him he'll know just what to do. Give them their privacy. Read up on your lovies and proper care of babies. Good luck!
