I had 2 finches...they've been together for 1 year. One died last night. Can I get another one so the other finch won't be lonely?

I used to have 3 finches at home, and know that they definitely need friends, but just to make sure the new one doesn't get a disease and the old one too, clean the cage thoroughly with bleach/water mixture. That should sanitize it, and get rid of any trace of sickness.

Yes, finches take new cage mates pretty quickly, and you definately should, they're flock birds and don't do well alone.
