Finding a Cockatiel2007-11-24 17:07:13

My Mother-in-law has asked if I could search by computer for a Malocken Cockatiel? <spelling?> I am not a bird person and don't even know if there is such a bird. I am spelling it as she pronounced it and I have no idea if I am even close to correct. Could some of you bird experts tell me if this is a breed of bird and where it might be found. I can only add she said it has a yellow crest. I know this isn't much to go on but that shows how much confidence I have in my fellow yahoo members. Thanks for your help with this one.

I would say she is talking about a Moluccan Cockatoo. They are not cockatiels and are much larger. Here is a link to the Moluccan Cockatoo Society

It however does not have a yellow crest. Yellow crests are found on Sulfur-crested cockatoos and cockatiels.

I think you are looking for a Cockatoo not a cockatiel. They are the big birds like Baretta had if you remember that show.
