How can I make my female cockatiel be quiet

She CHIRPS when she wants ATTENTION! She has EVERYTHING she coud possibly need. She just wants attention 24/7! I give her a ton of attention every day, she doesn't need more.

How can I train her that she doesn't get attention every second she wants it.?

You have trained her that when she chirps, she gets attention. You must REtrain her. This takes a while, as it's so irritating you'll want to tape her beak shut, but it WORKS.

1. Choose one of her "nice" sounds that you can handle. Make sure every one in your home agrees on the sound. It should be relatively pleasant, and relatively soft. This is going to be her contact call.

2. Whenever she makes this sound ALWAYS respond verbally eg, "What agood bird! Do I hear Polly?" Then go and visit her, showering her with attention.

3. If she makes annoying/loud etc sounds, IGNORE HER. Do NOT respond in ANY way. Zero. Nada. SHe get NOTHING from you if she'd obnoxious. Everyone in your house must do this.

4. Everytime she makes the "contact call", answer her. Even when she is no longer being annoying. IF you stop answering, she will get louder and louder and louder until you are right back to where you started. Eventually, you can teach her th e"not now" command. But that's not until you have her quieter! lol

For a while she will be noisier. So much so you'll be clawing at the walls. Don't give up! Keep at it. Eventualy she'll start to realiz ebing loud and annoying gets her NOTHING while being soft and quiet get sher everything.
