How can I tell if my parakeet is a male or a female
How can I tell if my parakeet is a male or a female2007-11-24 17:20:30Answers:
There is a section above their beek that is usually a pretty good indicator. On males it is blue, & females it is tan.when they are very young, there may not be much color distinction, but it usually works!
If it has a penis, then it's a male.
you can ask her. squeeze the bottom also can . it will come out.
You have to wait till they're both mature. The male will have a lilac like color above his beak and the female won't.
You dint say what kind of parakeet you have, many birds have different plumage, more vivid on the male the female being less colourfull. budgies show the sex colouration on the cur the area above the beak where the nostrals are, blue for a male sandy brown on a female although this is not always evident on very young birds. on birds where there is no difference in plumage ( the larger parrots) will have to be determind by a vet this is done under anesthetic.
how high its voice is
Usually the male will have a bluish / purplish cere (skin just above beak) female usually is brownish.
on top of its beak theirs either blue or just a cream color if its blue or colored its a male
In mature parakeets above the beak where their nostrils are is called the cere. (pronounced Seer) In a male parakeet the cere is a bluish grey color. In the female the cere is a tannish, light brown color. You can tell after about 6 months of age or so. If you wanted to know when it was younger, you would have to have sexually probed by a veterinarian. Also, it is believed but not entirely proven that the male parakeets are more talkitive or (chirpy.)
You probably mean a budgie when you say parakeet - there's other types of parakeets, but budgies are the most common. As others mentioned, the color of the cere tells the gender. But you can also take it to a vet for help determining its sex. It is recommended that you take birds for a "well bird checkup" once a year anyway, with a certified avian vet.
the color of it if it is a bright color or mostly bright it is a male if it is a dull color or mostly dull it is a female
you have to look at it's nose if it's blue it's a boy and if it's pink it's a girl.
i can tell about budgerigars ,which belong to the parakeet
family. aka shell parakeets
A male has blue/purple colour in the region over it's beak
A female has brownish/white colour in the region over it's beak
It depends on their age. If they're about 5 weeks old, a female will have a blueish colored cere ("nose") above the beak. It might also be purple. Also, there will be white rings around the nostrils. Males will have more a pink-colored cere.
For older budgies, females will tend to have brownish or white ceres, and males will have blue ceres (some tint of blue to darker blue).
