How can i finger-tame a lovebird that is not hand-fed and that doesnt want to go to you
This bird is totally afraid of you and it will traumatise him if you try and handle him with out his confidence. Try and attract him to you with his favourite food through the cage bars. when he is coming to take move it slowly to the door . This may take weeks.
When he is coming to the door to take the food try it with the door open but make sure that all windows and doors in the room are locked. He may step on to you hand but will probably fly off. Let him come back to the cage on his own do not chase him as this will reinforce the fear that he had for you. Sit quietly and let him get his bearing and find his cage again he will then go back into feed. slowly slowly is the key. Do not expect any fast changes because you have a wild bird and he has to trust you. Repeat this exercise as often as you can and only talk to him is a soft tone and allways keep calm. Best of luck.
I see that you still don't have any answers on this one. Maybe because you are going to have a hard time because the bird was not tame when it was a chick. And you may never be able to handle it.
About all you can do is keep getting in and out of the cage till the bird is confrontable with you being in there and don't make any fast movments. Open the cage to offer a treat and use a clip to hang the treat on the cage near where he purches. It will take a lot of time. Just keep softly baby talking him and move closer to him over time. Sooner or later kinda bump him a little. If you get a way with that slowly put your finger under his brest and lightly push and he should stepup on your finger. don't take your hand out of the cage just talk to him for a minute and put him back.
Take your time.
i think your only option would be to clip his wings so that he cant fly and get him out of the cage, every time he jumps off your finger pick him up again, he'll quit after a while, then begin to gently talk to him and pet him, offer him food, walk around the room with him every day, gradually he'll become friendly, be patient and be prepared to get bitten
