How can you tame parakeets
I have two parakeets. One is blue, Zeroes, and the other one is green, Knives. I got Zeroes around March of last year and Knives a month or two after that. I got them from a pet store so they were not tame when I bought them. I had meant to attempt to tame them earlier, but I was always busy. Now, I have some time on my hands and I would like to attempt it again. They are both in good health, but I need to trim their wings so I can begin taming them without any incidents. I read a few of the books on taming parakeets, but I didn't really get anything out of them that I thought would work or have tried some of it and it didn't work. So, does anyone have any good tips or ideas?
Answers:Hey baby, your avatar looks beautiful. If you want to tame a budgie, you need to hold them with a glove for about an hour each day for 1 week, then place your budgie on your finger 'n' that should do it.
KEEP WORKING WITH THEM!! That's the key! I'm assuming that you are the one that cleans their cages and feeds and waters them, no? If not, then you need to start doing that. Believe it or not, they will associate you with cleaning their cage, and birds like having clean cages! lol. Seriously! Talk to them, sing to them.take them out for at least 15 minutes or so a day until they get used to the idea that they have to be handled. DON'T RUSH THINGS! It will take time and effort, but in the end, you'll have your tame parakeets! Good luck!

clean the cages and let them out..put ur hand in pet them. its ok if they bite u..let them get used to ur scent. also when u take them out they will get hungry.when they get hungry leave a little ffod outside there cage or even next to u.they will come down after hours.. hat how mine are tamed. they come on my hand fly in and out of the cage anytime..i leave the door open
First off, you should start off with 1 or 2 budgies, never more than that. You should always have bird's wings clipped when you first get them or it won't be very fun at all to Train your bird. There is pretty much only one really big thing that you need to have to train a bird and that is PATIENCE!
