I got one and I don't know what it is.
Answers:First off, a chicken is a girl. U can tell it has a smaller tail, Roosters have curly like tails and long. They happen to be more colorful. If u ment chicks, u can tell by its wings. Spread them apart and if its longer or like sperated more, its a guy, if its more fuzzy shorter, its a girl. Hope that answered ur question. I have chickens, so i should know!

I know! I know! 1st you have to squeeze the poop outta them (literally) Just hold thier bottom with your pointer and thumb and squeeze ( must be done at the bum bum ) Once the poop has squirted out then you squeeze the area again, take care to move the feathers away..if there is a "bump" it's a boy.
You have to check their vent (poop hole), I swear! Watch "Dirty Jobs", they show how to do it in detail, including the fact that you have to squeeze the poop out of them first.

Don't squeeze your chick to sex it! You could injure or kill it this way. Where did you get your chick? Chicks sold at places like pet stores are often culls from hatcheries and will be roosters. Hens are more desirable and you typcially hatch 50/50 so there are lots of extra boys. What breed is your chick? Some breeds you can tell by their coloring when they hatch. Otherwise, you just have to raise it and see. Pick a gender-neutral name if it's a pet or wait to name it.
