You have a wonderful pet and this is quite normal behavior. It starts quite young as defensive posture and developes as the bird gets older, I reinforce this in conures as I am hand rearing to make it a form of play , they will lie down when ever I put them in this position and wait until I put my finger in their feet for them to get hold of, I then lift them up in to a cuddle and they love it.

Yes.
sounds like it might be dead?
It's not really normal, but it isn't unheard of in conures. Some just prefer to sleep on their backs. If its acting weird, or it just started this behavior for no apparent reason, you might consult a vet, but I think its fine.
yes it is normal i hand raised many conures and cared for many more and i call them "monkey birds" because of there funny behavors that other bird species do not tend to do.when customers would see our conures playing and sleeping upside down feet in the air and most asked if they were sick or something ..so i said no.they are just crazy lilttle monkeys :)
This is totally common behavior in conures. I have a Jenday conure & a Sun conure that both do this. These birds have loads of personality & often sleep on their backs almost like people. My Sun conure will be busy showing off for me, then flop on his back with his feet in the air & fall to sleep.
