I have an African Grey is it OK if he eats raw hamburger meat once in a while2007-11-24 17:22:14

He was on my sholder when I was cooking and he run down my arm eating it raw. I know that some birds eat meat. Most of the time it is cooked.

One instance will probably not kill him, but the reason people don't eat raw meat is the same reason birds shouldn't: we cook meat to kill the bacteria in it. You can give him occasional bits of cooked, unsalted, lean meat (for example, chicken or fish), but it shouldn't be a large part of his diet.
