Keep children and pets away.

9. Contact a wildlife rehabilitator, state wildlife agency, or wildlife veterinarian

as soon as possible.

Don鈥檛 keep the bird at your home longer than necessary.

Keep the bird in a container; don鈥檛 let it loose in your house or car.

10. Wash your hands after contact with the bird.

Wash anything the bird was in contact with 鈥?towel, jacket, blanket, pet carrier 鈥?br />to prevent the spread of diseases and/or parasites to you or your pets.

11. Get the bird to a wildlife rehabilitator as soon as possible.

It鈥檚 against the law in most states to keep

wild animals if you don鈥檛 have permits,

even if you plan to release them.

This is so sad because I'm afraid the signs are not good. Do your best to keep him quiet and make him as comfortable as possible. If you're determined and can afford it take the bird to a vet (avian best).

You could get styptic powder to stop the bleeding but remember bleeding is serious to birds (their whole body only contains 1-2 thimblefulls).

It's not an impossible task but will be tough.

Contact your local nature center. Many o them do wildlife rehabilitation. Take the bird to them. If you take it to a vet make sure it is a vet that is familiar with treating wildlife.
