Everytime you go near him he bites. Is there any way i can stop his biting. I now have him for 3 mnths

Answers:

get him some treats and only hand feed him.

Somewhere I read that they are endangered and it is illegal to keep them as pets in N.Am. Some people in Africa do.

While I was a tourist in Africa, I came across these birds. They are beautiful but they can be unpredictable. He bites because he is caged. Angry, maybe? I guess you let him roam by taking him out of the cage.

They can be trained very nicely too, I was told. Though, I have not tried.

give it sometimes. you gotta give him food and water and make sure you are the one who is giving them daily and it'll get use to your present. so that you can slowly let him out.
Greys have long memories. He is probably still upset by the changes. I inherited a 22 year old blue and gold, she was like a shark when we got her and was having none of any of it. But within 10 months she had totally become mine. SO, DON'T GIVE UP!

When you are there, speak softly to him and open the cage door, leave it open so he can peek out and have a look at things, put his favorite snack outside the cage but where he can snatch it up real quick. DO NOT force yourself on him, that will only make things worse. You need to EARN his trust. Hand him goodies. That makes you a good guy! Don't try to hold him for a long time unless he gets to the floor, many times even the most hardened parrot will hitch a ride on your hand if it means a lift up and to his cage. Make sure the cage is not higher then your head level, that would make him Boss Bird, that should be you. Clipping the flight wings also takes the edge off of him. These few tricks used together should have you sipping coffee and toast every-morning in no time together. P.S. Offer a teaspoon of coffee to him, that usually makes BIG friends really quickly with these little knuckleheads.

You will need to take it out, if you refuse it will stay this way. my amazon was like that and i learned to put my hand under its cest bone and she steps up. she growls and opens her mouth but to bad. once shes steps on my hand she loves being near my chest.
Give him some more time and earn his trust.
I have had an Grey for 8 years..I rescued it from a home. She hated me for about 6 months but slowly and surely warmed up to me. African Grey's can be extremely shy. Mine loves grapes, so try grapes. Also, if you act afraid or if you jerk your hand away they sense fear and will bite everytime. The only way he'll learn to trust you is by you showing you are NOT afraid (even if this means getting bit several times!!)
try spending time next to th cage giving him treats from your hand. the trick is to get him to trust you. i have an african grey i got from a little old lady. it took me less then 1 day using this method, and he was coming to me.i have had him for about 18 months now, and he really loves his daddy now.
