I have parakeets that have 2 eggs but the mother parakeet wont sit on them so what should I do2007-11-24 17:22:43Answers:

If your bird laid her eggs on the floor of her cage, she usually won't sit on them. If she laid them in her nest box, then there is a reason she won't sit on them. Whenever a hen of mine would do that I would check the eggs and see if they are fertile. After so long and the eggs get cold, the hen knows they are not fertile. After two weeks, just throw the eggs away. The hens know when they have laid in-fertile eggs. She knows they are no good. Are you sure your other bird is a male ? If you have two hens together and one of them lays eggs, then for sure they are not good eggs. To have good sucess in egg hatching, the hen has to be in a nest box.

take the eggs ou and rep the in a hud blanket and turn on the oven as low as possible put them in there for 1 min a day other than that put them in a drwr for a 3-4 days the mother will miss them and talk alot so put them back and she'll take care of the possably

That's very common with birds.I don't think anyone knows why that happens.So there's nothing you should be concerned about.

Many birds just don't make good parents. Some father birds kill the babies, sometimes the mom won't sit on them, sometimes she breaks them. No one really knows how the mind of a bird works.
