I just got 3 Indian Ringnecks when can i take them out of the cage2007-11-24 17:22:51

I just want to know when I can take them out with out them biting me.

Answers:

Dont try to take them out. Simply leave their door open and they will come out when they feel safe. If you reach in and grab them, it will scare them of human hands and they may never want to come out. Try sitting in front of their cage with the door open and talk softly to them. My birds like the "shhh" sound. I think it is calming to them. Maybe try to entice them close with a stick of millet or popcorn too. This may take some time but once they gain your trust, it will be worth it! Good luck.

When you feel they are ready and when you feel ready. Sometimes taking them into a room with a door and no other opening, you can open their cage door (make sure you leave the room otherwise they won't come out) and see what happens in another hour or less. Try to persuade them to come out. Talk in a loving tone to them everyday. Say hi to them everyday. Spend an hour or so with them. Once they realize you are giving them attention everday, the more friendlier they get. And the more they will get used to you.
