I just got two new keets for the one I have had 3 months2007-11-24 17:22:18

When I put the new ones in with my other keet, he tries to fight with them.one was his nest mate, and the other is a pure albino keet Please help.I don't want them to fight..

You need to take the new ones out of the cage and gradually introduce them. Put the new ones in a cage and place the new cage next to the old one for a few weeks.

When you do get to the point of putting them all together, the older one will try to fight a little bit. Parakeets are territorial animals, and that's what it's doing, establishing it's territory.

Well maybe the bird is fighting for 2 reasons. He might think that the cage is his territory and he doesnt want anyone in it, or he just wants to protect his mate..

THE ONE YOU HAVE HAD IN THE CAGE IS DEFINING ITS TERRITORY. IT ALSO DEPENDS ON THE SIZE OF THE CAGE. IF THE CAGE IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR 3 BIRDS TO EACH FEEL COMFORTABLE, YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER A NEW CAGE. THAT WAY THERE WOULD BE NO TERRITORY SINCE IT WOULD BE A NEW SPACE FOR ALL OF THEM.
