I just lost one of my love birds Should I wait to get another one2007-11-24 17:22:19

I had bought both of my blue masked love birds at the same time. I know that they do not like to be alone, but am unsure if I should wait to get another one or not.

get another one because you dont want the other to get depressed and lonely..believe me ive seen birds get real depressed and stop eating

Get another one whenever you feel ready to get another one. Just remember not to put it in with the one you have left, otherwise one of them will end up dead. After having the new one 4 weeks place both birds in a new cage together at the same time so they dont fight.

You don't have to get another one right away, but you should spend more time with your remaining bird, because they do get lonely. If you are dedicated to spending a good amount of time with your lovebird, you can wait until you're ready. Whenever you do decide to get one (if ever), make sure you do your research on the best way to introduce them to each other. You could very well get another lovie and have it not bond with the one you have now. It's a gamble.

Get another one. ive known birds that have died because they lost their companion. My parakeet was SO depressed when his woman died. as soon as we got another girl he was all tweety and happy.
