I think my Budgie is sick2007-11-24 17:22:33

His "poopies" are a very vibrant green, and he has alot of water with them. he seems to be eating about the same and drinking more (obviously) I am wondering if there is anything I can do for him at home since I can't afford to take him to the vet. I am going to start giving him a Pedialite formula to help rehydrate him, but I am not sure if the there is anything else I can do that I am no thinking of can do.

Is your Budgie moulting? Budgies dropping are sometimes of a greeny/watery nature when experiencing severe moult. A tonic should be given at this time as they are susceptible to other illnesses when going through a moult.With what you describe your Budgie may well have Enteritis,(anti-biotics from vet)check his vent,making sure the area is clean.Clean his cage daily,perches, food pots and toys also. If you suspect your bird is sick,you MUST keep your bird very warm,at 100 degree's ,and seek medical attention immediately.A Budgie will die within 24hours if not treated.A sick Budgie will sit quiet,fluffed up,BOTH feet gripping the perch,(healthy Budgies only grip with one foot)eyes closed.This being the case,cover your bird, keep draughts out,and keep him warm,I emphasise VERY WARM,its extremely important.See a vet as soon as possible.

I don't kno about the poo. but it may be the heat. Here in romania there are 38 deg. C.
