We are on our 2nd cockatiel. Sarge the first nutty bird we had sat on my shoulder as my family and I drove from Florida to Idaho for a military move. THEN he even went with us to Germany. I was going to promote Sarge to Colonel when he abandoned me and fell in love with my oldest daughter who was about 8 or 9 at the time. Sarge, that little turd only came to me when I had a snack watching TV. As soon as he even thought he heard my daughters voice he would go nuts singing and saying sarge sarge over and over and would fly through the house till he found her. Sarge passed away last year. Now Ozzy our younger Cockatile WAS a big hit with the kids. I say was because now that they trained the bird to whistle the may berry song, call the dogs to go outside, ask our dog pepper if she wants a chewy (the bird actually says Pepper want a chewy?) and when you say batman the bird hangs upside down at the top of his cage and spreads his wings. I think it is hilarious because the bird WILL NOT SHUT HIS YAP when the kids are trying to watch TV or do homework. They now realize that they have turned that poor cute little bird into a monster with a big mouth. But oh my god what fun and A PART OF THE FAMILY. He loves to drink tea with me and Jello and banana nut bread seem to be favorites of his.

COCKATIELS are more affordable then amazon parrots and smarter then finches. We love em.

myna bird, parrakeet, or canaries. i love these birds. by the way, i have 2 parrakeets. they are so cute and funny.
