If my ringneck parrot is mean, should i get rid of her, i am going to have a new born baby in Januar2007-11-24 17:23:02

I am worried that she will be very mad when I have my baby. She has already become agressive toward me just from the first month of pregnancy. Where as six months ago she was loving toward me. She used to coo and rub her face on mine. Now she just bites my face whenever i look at her. Is this temporary? Or will she think of harming my baby. She has only ever liked me. She hates men, and she is even agressive towards my 4 and 5 year old.

Well, I don't think you'll have a problem if you keep her in a cage or in a closed room when the baby is around.

She may be slightly ill, and that's why she's behaving that way. I'd see a vet if I were you.

But I wouldn't get rid of her. I had the meanest darned parakeet in the world- could hardly get near the cage- but I loved him to death!

she is probably just lonely. get her a female friend before you have the baby. so they can get used to each other. if that dosent work out, give her to the nearest no-kill animal shelter.

hmmm maybe you should get a training book. Do you give her the same attention u always have. Look at it like this when your child gets older and he or she starts biting people,hitting, scratching u gonna get rid of it. There is a reason for her behavior, think about how u have changed, there are things u can do for each animal behavior. Just keep givng it attention, and dont let her near the baby. She probably will like the baby, u would b suprised how much birds like kids.
