If you own a green-cheek conure, what made you decide to get one2007-11-24 17:23:06

We just recently bought a green-cheek conure and wondered what we should expect out of this little bird.

Answers:

Oh your in for a big one. Hehe..These birds are some of the funniest birds ever. My green cheek (Rafiki) waves and dances and trys to feed me like a momma bird would a baby. He will squeez under the bathroon door to find us and they are just so cool. Loud.VERY LOUD. They love to scream. Mine loves when you cup your hand over his face and body. He loves when you tickle his neck and scratch him as do most birds. They love to play. They are very playful birds. You made a really good choice for a bird.

I agree with what the first person said about them being loud. But mine doesnt scream all the time. About 3 times a day he will screech. They are very sweet birds if you spend enough time with them. I have one named Mango. Im not really sure what made me decide to get a green cheek. He just appealed to me the first time I laid eyes on him.Enjoy your new bird:)

I agree with the other two. Mine is named Sam (or Sam-Sam as he calls himself). They're the feistiest of the conure family and will go after larger birds or any animals for that matter. Sam's chased my cats and tried to attack my cockatoo (her head is about half his body). They can be very noisy and they can learn to talk but it's pretty rare. Sam can say Sam-Sam, up up, and dance but it's not really words. Close though. You can tell what he's saying. He also dances and makes kissing noises when I give him kisses (or when I give my husband kisses). They don't really act like birds. More like monkeys! They chew on everything though so watch out! They're great birds though. When I saw him I knew I had to get him. There were two green-cheekeds and I had to have him! Have fun!
