Depends on the kind of bird what is safe for them .. there are tons of sites on the net that can 'tell you' what you have to have to build a bird safe cage out of which kind of wires and specific clips/fasteners you need. It depends on what SIZE of bird/birds you are keeping in this cage as to what you need for size of wire. Are you breeding them in this cage? If so you'd need a nestbox hole. The overall process isn't that hard - it's just making sure that everything is BIRD SAFE in materials AND the way you build the cage.

I would say yes. It looks quite good for small birds. But if your thinking of useing the cage for big birds or parrots i'd say u'd have to buy wider and stronger wire. Keep in mind some birds might chew at it so make sure its strong enough and check it regularly.

What about this one?:

It looks a bit more stronger and bird proof.

By the way when building the cage make sure the wood on the top is on the outside. Other wise the birds will just chew it and ull have to do it again.

Depends on the type of birds you are putting in there. Small birds are OK with galvanized mesh, (that is, if it's a window screen quality) but a parrot, perhaps even a lovebird would demolish it and escape. Larger wire mesh, like .5" would be OK for medium sized birds, but parrots need a real parrot cage.
I was alway's told to use the same screens they use for the bottom of rabbit cages that way thier little claws don't get stuck in the screen. After you build it i'd love to see a picture of it if you don't mind
DO NOT USE GALVANIZED HARDWARE CLOTH! It has a zinc coating which will give your bird heavy metal toxicity. This can be fatal! They pick it up from climbing on the wire, chewing it. pretty much any contact with it over time will get into your bird's blood stream.

I know this from experience! My cockatiel got heavy metal toxicity from garvanized metal and almost died.

Hardware cloth is Great ! We built all our breeding cages with this material. It is great and our cages looks so tidy. Way to go Good Luck
