Im remodiling and im worried for my birds What should i do
Im remodiling my house and im really worried for my birds. They look skinner. I put food and water and i change their cage and i take very good care of them. But im worried that they are afraid of the sounds that the workers do, and im afraid they are sick from the dust and all that. What should i do? PLEASE HELP!
Answers:I would probably consider moving them to a friend's house or boarding them for a while. The noise, dust, strangers walking around with all of those tools, the general chaos and the fumes are not going to do a bit of good for them.
They could end up traumatized.
You didn't state what kind of birds they are, but if they are used to a quiet house with a regular routine, this is going to seem like hell on earth to them.
You might end up with some nasty fallout from this: Plucking, behavioral issues.etc.
I am not one to overly dramatize things, but if you are doing the entire house and this is going to be going on for months, I would seriously think about a temporary move for them.
You would have to regularly visit them and perhaps bring them back for the weekend, but this remodeling thing is not going to be helping them in the long run.
My birds are pretty used to a lot of different people, noises and stuff going on. I've had some remodeling work go on, but nothing extensive.
This sounds like you might need to move them if they're reacting so strongly already by not eating.
Then when it's all over and peace is restored, you can return them home.
