I'm thinking of getting a parakeet is there anything i should be expecting? Any extra things to know?

First of all, what are you expecting from your bird?

I don't care how small or how big the bird is, they need love, attention and training. You have to decide where your "Budgerigar" is going to fit into your family. What I mean is, where is his "room" going to be? Out with everyone else would be great. He must be considered a part of the family flock, and it's up to you to make him feel at home. They are very family oriented and you have to include him in everything. It's so much fun when you have this little guy hanging with the family and being part of the crowd. Do some research about "Budgerigars". Look at their dietary requirements, their social needs, and their abilities.
