I have a water softener hooked up to my water supply. Is this water safe to give to my bird for drinking water, or should I give her bottled/ purified water only?
Answers:It is best to offer your pets bottle water. Many insist on heat distilled water but I disagree as heat vapor H2O is void of ALL important minerals. Yes some of those minerals are not good for your pet but depending on your area, well it depends on water quality. Soft water DOES NOT CONTAIN SALT! the sodium is used in softeners to remove particles taken from your water through out daily use, when it recharges all salt content along with iron material are rinsed from the system. Common misconception. Bottled water is really the way to go.
