Is a Budgie hard to take care of
my cousin is thinking bout getting a budgie she iz 13 iz hard to take care off?
Answers:no. i got my parakeets on April 6th. i have a budgie and blue parakeet. they are not very hard to take care of. all you need to do is:
1. A good place to buy the bird is petsmart. my opinon
2. Buy a metal cage, with a lot of space. DON'T buy those cheapas* plastic ones because they have no space and break after a month or two. ALSO, get a cage that is easy to clean. parakeets drop A LOT of food when they eat. they also poop a lot too.
3. Get food bowl, water bowl, perches (at least four) a swing, they like to sleep in the swing at night, and some toys.
4. Feed them every day. they peel off the skin of the seeds, so go outside every day and blow out the seed skins.
5. birds need clean water EVERY DAY.
6. Clean their cage every day.
7. hang toys from the roof of their cage. they like to interact.
8. OH YES, GET TWO BUDGIES, IF YOU GET ONE, IT WON'T CHIRP AND IT MAY DIE SINCE IT'S SO LONELY.
9. if you see they are losing their feathers, buy molting food. instuctions are on container.
10. give at least 30 min. of attention.

They are not "hard" to take care of. it's just that you HAVE to take care of them! You cannot forget to feed and water them, keep their cage very clean, and be prepared to pay LOTS of attention to them, because they LOVE it! Budgies are wonderful pets, and will learn to respond to humans in a very loving way, but you have to work with them and, again, spend lots of time with them. Don't know if a 13 year old can committ to something like this.

A Budgie is hard to take care of depending on how much time you have to take care of it. If your are a busy body and you really want a Budgie I recomend getting two because birds in the parrot family are very social and need lots of attention, either from humans or from other birds.
