Is a crockpot safe to use around my cockatoo2007-11-24 17:24:03

I am a new human to a 1yr old goffins.

I know teflon is not safe.

should I be concerned re a crockpot?

Answers:

I've had an African Grey for 8 years now and have not had any problems using my crockpot. So long as it is not lined with teflon and is in otherwise good (safe and not broken) condition you shouldn't have any problems.

And I should also like to answer the misconception that burning food will harm your bird. As someone who has burned the occasional supper, I can honestly say the only bad thing that happened is that Yoya now knows how to make the smoke detector noise quite well.

I would also like to mention that self-cleaning ovens are not safe around birds.

Do you also know that burning any kind of oil in any kind of pan is also harmful?

Is your crock pot non stick.. not only teflon but all non stick coat ings have potential to be bad

Long as your crock pot is good old ceramic/stone its ok long as you dont burn anything in it..

Its best to keep all birds as far away from the kitchen as possible anyway.

You can use your crock pot. But don't burn your food. It your pot burns your cockaoo dies! That is a bad thing to live with..
