Is a peacock an endangered animal, and what is the fine for killing one
Ok, so about two months ago i was on a country road, not thinking that some animal/bird was going to run out at me and who would've believed that a peacock ran accross the road and i smack it. The police call me about it the other day asking questions, i need to know, did i do anything wrong? and if so how much am i looking at?
Answers:Unless you live over by India, peacocks are not native wild birds, so they don't have any protected status. It was probably somebody's pet, and it was an accident anyway, so you've done nothing wrong.
Sure it is and it about a $5,000
Where do you live that they are running around like that? I can't imagine you did anything wrong, accidents happen.
I hope it all works out, maybe you should ask your local authorities.
Good Luck!!
It depends on where you live and the laws of the area.
If the bird attacked you, and they do, how could defending yourself be illegal?
Good luck.
It all depends on the situation. If you were defending yourself from the bird attacking you, then you should be fine. If the bird was not being aggresive towards you and you hit it, it may fall under laws for animal cruelty and in many areas that is now a felony which can be punishable by up to one year in jail for each count plus a fine.
If it was in self defense, then they will look at the situation and decide whether or not you used reasonable force. If they find you did you should be fine, if not, then you may be subject to the above.
