Is is wrong to let your bird eat and drink what you do2007-11-24 17:24:06

My bird just LOVES to eat things i do like Chips with salsa and chocolate and even tacos. Also she likes to drink my sodas like my Coke And Root Beer. I was wondering is it ok if she does this. Also shes a budgie parakeet

we have a cockatiel and he eats everything we eat. well. we give him bird food but when were eating a meal he flies up on the table and loves to take some of our food off our plate. he also will stand on the edge of a glass (of drink) and swoop his head down to drink it. it sounds kinda gross but heh were used to it. anyways i dont think its bad our bird has been doing this since he was a baby and he is now 8 years old. he is also strong and healthy-- he got outside the two nights ago. we thought he would be dead because it was about 40 degrese. we called the animal warden of our city and she said some construction workes found him about an hour ago and were feeding him. we found out it was our bird and he was 2 miles away from our house.

yes very wrong, My friend got nipped in the lip and contracted a lung disease, which she fought for years, had to be on oxygen etc, give the bird a bit of food on its own plate, they do carry diseases.

hmmmm..I think the real question here is why are YOU eating the things you eat? Yoiks, what a diet. Don't you want to live a long healthy life so you can be around for your budgie pal?

Well, yeah. Birds shouldn't eat salty food, so out goes the chips. Chocolate is bad for dogs and it's probably bad for birds, too--it can kill dogs (and birds are waaaayyyy smaller.) Don't let the bird have sugary drinks, especially with caffeine. Bad for animals.
