Is it necessary for parakeets to have gravel in their cage If not gravel then2007-11-24 17:24:09

should I have a cuttle bone in the cage for him? My last bird loved gravel. this one doesn't seem to care if it's in there or not. Maybe I should get him a cuttle bone? For his beak? I do have a mineral block in there but he hasn't touched that either.

They need the gravel to digest there food. He may not seem interested but he does use it. The bone is ok for a while but that doesnt stay in there sysem like it should. Keep the gravel.

I WOULD PUT CUTTLE FISH BONE IN ITS BEST TO PROVIDE HIM WITH EVERY THING HE NEEDS EVEN IF HE DOESNT USE IT I PUT SAW DUST IN THE BOTTOM OF MY AVIARY IT KEEPS IT SMELLING NICE AND ITS EASY TO CLEAN UP BUT YOU CAN USE ANYTHING REALLY MY FRIENDS BIRD USES GRIT AT THE BOTTOM OF HER BIRDS CAGE OR YOU COULD USE WOOD DASED CAT LITTER OR JUST PAPER OR SAND SHEETS
