The weirdest thing just happened
I was sitting at my computer when I heard a loud bang on my sliding glass door. After going to investigate, I discovered a dead bird on the patio floor. What would cause this bird to fly into my door?
Answers:Reflection.Go outside and assess the "bird's-eye view" of windows. Birds get the impression that there is no barrier at the window glass.
Put inexpensive stick-on silhouettes of hawks, falcons or owls on outside of window.
Hang plants, streamers, wind chimes, or other objects outside the window.
Move feeders away from large picture windows.
Many birds that hit windows and appear to be dead are merely stunned. Leave birds on ground covered with a kitchen colander or box with air holes, until they recover. This will protect them from predators.
That's very sad and unfortunate for that bird. Sometimes their vision is not clear depending on the weather - I have heard that it's their reflection on the glass that draws their attention to it.
Birds fly into glass a lot because they can see through it and they can't really comprehend the concept of glass.
As far as the bird knew it was just a way into an interesting building.
The Glass door reflects what is outside. The bird sees the reflection not the glass door and BANG birdie has a broke neck. Sad!
that happens all the time i call it the Windex syndrome.

most people think that they cant see the door because its transparent, but that may not be true. It is spring, and birds have traveled a long way from migration, so they are tired. they need to find a new territory and stuff too. when they see glass, they see their reflection and think its another bird, so they want to maybe attack it or chase it away. that causes them to fly into windows and glass things. ways to stop it: hang a plastic owl to scare the bird, maybe wash the door with soapy water to prevent the reflection. this mostly happens in the spring, and will probably go away after a while. i hope this helps!!!!! good luck also!!!
