Thermo-perch or heat lamp for a cockatiel2007-11-24 17:16:54Answers:

Get the heating Lamp and somehow nail it to the wall next to the cage that way it's not too close to the cage to heat up the bars and burn lil footsies.

Go to your Pet store and ask the retail service girl/guy what is the best lamp to use.I can't remember what type of heat lamp my Mom used but that is the route that she went she talked to the pet store people and they got her the right one and told her to nail it to the wall next to the cage.

:) I hope this helps answer your question

Mom raises Tiels and has been for over 15 years

We had cockatiels for over 15 years and never used any kind of heat source. They did fine at house temp and if you keep it real cold at night, cover them. That's all they need.
the bird groups I belong to some likes the thermo perch you should read up on it foe the pro and cons about the thermo perch
If the bird is in the house. The bird does not need a additional heat source.

That is why birds have feathers. They will grow more down feathers if they are cold.
