Trapped Bird
It could be a squirrel, but it sounds like a bird, and it's in my roof. For a few days now i've heard scratches against my bedroom ceiling and it didn't sound like something ON my roof but IN it. I tried knocking against my ceiling to see if it'd leave (i've found the hole it used to get inside) but it won't. I dont know whether it leaves time to time or if its TRAPPED inside either. We took wood to block the hole from anything else going inside but when we got in the house, the animal started making noises, constantly, like a cry for help sort of. But theres no way we could help cause from the hole to the inside of our roof isn't a simple a to b route. it would have to climb certain obstacles to fall inside. So anyway, now its making noises and its really sad hearing it. We removed the wood so it could leave, it hasn't yet. Im thinking its possible that it could be a nest inside? a baby bird? and its mother could be out, i have no idea. I have no idea what im supose to do?
Answers:It could be a swallow nest and the scratching could be the chicks in the nest, and the crys could be them calling to the adults. DON'T block it if this is the case, the adults will not be able to get in there to feed them, and they would starve to death. You should watch the hole from the outside of the house and see if you see birds coming and going. But keep your distance as the adults will not come if they see you nearby. If it is birds, the chicks will eventually fledge the nest and then you can permanently block the hole. It could also be a rodent or a bat.but in any case, try and wait for it to leave, you don't want it dying in your walls either.
could be rats
hang some food by a string into the hole from the roof and call ANIMAL CONTROL IN YOUR AREA- they will come and get it out- it most likely is a bird, because squirrels are much more adventurous and could get into and out of almost anything.
Call for help
Call the animal control in your area immediatly. Poor little thing! :(
its probably a squirell but it could be something else you could hand an animal trap THAT doesnt kill them. and put some food in it the animal may come out
If this animal is above the ceiling in the crawl space or attic space why not just take a flash light climb up there and investigate the problem. If possible remove the animal put it back outside then block up the hole.I am sure someplace in your house there is an access panel which leads to the attic or crawl space.
yep, im sure its a squirrel... leave the hole opened so she can come and go.. Its baby season.. Im sure she had her babies up there.. and went frantic when she couldnt get out to get food.
please be patient... when her babies are weaned.. they will be on there way.
You could live trap the mom.. but then the babies would die. :(
