Treats for a cockatiel
What fruits and veggies can you give them? I know a lot of stuff but my cockatiel doesnt like a lot of them.. what else can i give her?
Answers:Onions, Avocados and chocolate are extremely toxic for birds so avoid those at all costs. Raw tomatoes are also questionable, but experts tend to go back and forth on that.
Any other fruit or vegggie can work as a treat. Pomegranates, kiwi, melons, berries, squash, pepper, or any other produce that's full of seeds are a great treat; not only can they eat the pulp, but they can also go to town on the seeds.
Jalape帽os or other hot peppers are also a treat that many people overlook thinking the heat will affect the bird, but it won't. Garlic might not only be a treat but is hugely beneficial for them, so try a few pieces of chopped garlic and see how she takes to it.
Leafy greens, such as Parsley, Mustard greens and Carrot Tops are also a fun treat. Hanging a bushel of them after a cold water rinse can act as a shower for them while they nibble on it.
If your bird likes to be social, sometimes eating whatever's on your place is the biggest treat they want; just make sure it doesn't have any of the 3 big "NO's" above, too much fat, dairy or salt and you can try a small amount. Whole grain, unsweetened cereals such as Cheerios can be a nice treat and you can easily spare a few from your morning bowl if you decide to have them too! :)
see if she likes carrots, or a honey stick. Mine likes a piece of lettuce once in a while and also apple slices
Our cockatiel loves millet - a big sprig of that and the Eastenders theme tune and she is one happy blissed out bird!

oo baby!! Try peanut butter.. it works.. get a chew toy with a whole in the middle where your put the PB inside with a knife, when they chew it up, they taste the PB and they fall asleep the whole night...oh wait that wasnt the question.. try pinnapple!
