Want my ring neck to be friendly2007-11-24 17:16:28

i have a ringneckparrot which is about 4 months old .its usually friendly but lunge and bites when i try to touch it.what sould i do?

Answers:

It is during its bluffing stage, dont worry, just be patient and never hit or sream at it when it bites and lunge at you, bluffing stage is natural stage for ringneck parakeet, and it will go away after a while and it will eventually turn back to normal.

You just have to normally play and interact with it like how you are used to.

Go here: http://www.indianringneck.com/

Its a great website for ringneck parakeet and go to the bluffing page, it explain everything about bluffing.

Good luck!

ignore the lunge and bite and pick him up anyway he is just trying to scare you..put your hand palm up and slide it under him
you have to show him whoz boss he is just trying to scare you and try to feed it wid your hands
The best thing to to is show him that you are boss. Take him out anyway and show him you are not scared. Once you have him out and if he is still doing this then gently rub his beak. This is a soothing thing for a baby bird that is done by the momma birds in the nest. It comforts him. My sun conure did this when she was younger to and worked great. But dont show that you are scared you are the boss.
