my aunt found a baby duck outside a court yard

she brang it to us because we have a lot

of animals and expeirence with animals

until we can get it to my aunts house on the farm,

right now we have the duckling in a cage with some hay stuff my mom has for our pigoen,

some duck food in a bowl and water in a bowl

the baby duck will not eat, we found worms

and my mom cut them up and tried to feed it to him, he barely eats those

any suggestions on what to do

i dont want the baby duck to starve

The duckling isn't use to food in a bowl try laying down a flat brown paper bag and then scatter some food on it.The duckling also doesn't recognize you as being it's care giver or parent so it will be a little apprehensive for a few days.Also you try taking it outside in the yard.Being that is a natural place for it to forage it already knows what to eat out there.You can also put a little of it's feed on the ground.Once it gets use to it's food it wont be an issue.

soak bread in water and give that to it , if it doesnt eat that then i dont know what it will eat , all birds like watered bread lol

Baby duck will survive from any food.

contact your local vet---try feeding in liquid diet through a syringe---it may not be ready for solid food

Ducks prefer to eat while swimming in a pond.try letting him swim in the bathtub and feed him bread while he's swimming.

You NEED to go to a pet store and g et baby bird food... the duck won't eat the worms.. nor most other regular food. The bird food costs about $8 and comes in a canister - you measure out so much and mix with water until it is like applesauce. Then feed the duck with a plunger (if pet store is out - you can get at a pharmacy ( for free sometimes) - minus the needle.
