I'm not sure how big of a city you live in so this might not be an option, but where I live you can often find chickens in the Hispanic markets. You might also try contacting a tack and feed store in your area and asking them if they know of anywhere you can find adults.

In Australia most Stock feed suppliers can put you in touch with breeders or 'farms'. Usually young adults are sold as 'point of lay's. If you want some that are a few years old try a country market but there's no telling how old they'd be or for how long they would live after you got them. Good luck.
