What Are The Playful Parrot Species

Answers:The most playful and entertaining parrot I have ever known is a black headed caique. They used to be pretty rare, but are becomming more popular as pets. If you google a picture of a black headed caique you will see that they are adorable. They are covered with bright blocks of color: green, orange, black and white. And their feathers are shiny and irridescent in the light. My caique is so acrobatic. He swings from his toys, bounces on his boing and scoots around the bottom of his cage on his back. He plays "soccer" with a ping-pong ball. He's always ready to "wrestle." He lies on his back in the palm of my hand while I pet him and kiss him on the head, and he loves to "hair-surf" swinging and dangling from my hair. He doesn't talk, but can whistle all kinds of whistles and various tunes. Jake loves everyone in the family. He is the friendliest, most affectionate, fun-loving bird I've ever seen. There is never a dull moment as long as my Jake is around.
Green Cheek Conures are very playful - they love playing. I used to have 5 but I had to rehome my hand raised one as I didn't have the time to play with him and it wasn't fair on him.
A friend I know has a Galah and said he is very playful too.
We have had several types of birds/parrots for the past 20 years and I would have to vote for our sun conure as the most playful. Second in line would be cockatiels and even parokeets if they're tame. Our sun isn't afraid of anything and absolutely loves to roll around in your lap with his favorite ball and even lies on his back on my shoulder to relax when we watch tv. That said, he's also extremely loud on occasion. As for bigger parrots, our grey is playful but she is also very high strung and nervous. Same with my mother in law's cockatoo. Our cockatiel was always very happy and playful as were two of our parakeets but they took a while to become tame enough. I should also point out that we spend a ton of time with ours..the more time you spend the happier and friendlier they are..

And they can be really nasty and mean if not taken care and trained well.
