Answers:the difference between a budgie and a parakeet:
a budgie, is usually smaller. and although it has different mutations, like albino and such.. they usually only come in English, which is bigger, and then just the regular smaller size.
they have the main colors, and the seer above the nose which determines the sex.
parakeets are larger, have more bolder colors and come in many many different variaties!!
hope that helped..
sadly most people dont know the difference.. im glad your asking!
The Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus, nicknamed budgie), the only species in the Australian genus Melopsittacus, is a small parrot belonging to the tribe Melopsittacini in the subfamily of the broad-tailed parrots (Platycercinae). Though budgerigars are often called parakeets, especially in American English, this term also refers to any of a number of small parrots with long flat tails. The budgerigar is found throughout the drier parts of Australia and has survived in the inlands of that continent for over 5 million years.
Probably not. Budgies are quite popular, the English Budgie being less so, but not rare. All budgies are parakeets, but not all parakeets are budgies. Parakeet is the term used for a smaller parrot.
budgies are often sold in pet stores for $25-$50 each. they are small (usually blue, green, yellow,.) and often called parakeet, probably because they look like "little parrots", hence parakeet.
