What can I do to try to stop my female dove from being aggressive towards a younger male2007-11-24 17:17:00

I just got two ringneck doves. One, "Zelda" is 8 months old. She's VERY tame and loves people. I also got "Zack" a dark 2 month old male, who is NOT tame at all. (He is however working on it with me).

The problem is, Zelda pecks at him, and jumps on his back whenever he tries to come near her. (Especially around the food bowl).

What can I do to try to stop her from pecking at him? He follows her everywhere and seems to really want to be around her, even though she's mean to him!

This isnt nything bad. Tey are just playing. Its the doves version of a piggy back ride, and they have fun with it.

Keep them in seperate cages - she is jealous - and territorial - give them time - they will eventually get along.
I would have the male in one cage near the females but not to close. after about a week put the female into the males cage.
