I recommend purchasing nesting material to ensure that any natural materials you decide to use are not infested or contaminated. Many pet stores sell nesting materials in boxes, but another popular option includes hays and grasses such as timothy hay. This can also be acquired from a pet store.

Many stores do sell ready made nests, however, if you go that route I would still include nesting materials in the cage. Birds, and canaries in particular, have a nesting instinct and are going to fulfill that by filling the nest you provide with the nesting material to make it more comfortable and a better host for the eggs.

Some pet stores sell already made nest for all bird types. Unless you want them to build their own nest you can buy the things at a pet store like Pet Smart or the one I work at Pet Land.
