What do I do with Duck eggs getting ready to hatch
I currently have several eggs that are ready to hatch, but I still have others that need to stay in the incubator. What should I do with the eggs that have cracks made from the duckling? Is it safe to take them out of the incubator and what can I put them in to hatch?
Answers:TAKE THE EGG TURNER OUT NOW! The egg turner has done it's job already, and if any of the little guys get out of the egg they will hurt their feet! Make sure you keep the moisture up in the incubator so their eggs don't dry out and they can't get out of their egg! Once they are at least standing and able to hold their own head up (a couple of hours or so) then you need to have a nice WARM place for them to live and PLEASE make sure that they have WATER to drink and MESH to EAT! I have raised ducks and in fact he's my Best Friend (he is almost 13 years old)
I raised him from egg, and along with lots of others chicks too Go get a nice size plastic container and put newpaper on the bottom
get a watering jar (from the feed store) and make sure they have a little bowl of water to play in (ducks love water) a bowl for their
food (ask the feed store) and MOST IMPORTANT get a source of HEAT to them your feed store or pet store can help just remember that to place it away from the water but close enough to keep them warm or they will die and if they don't have water to drink they will not make it! don't realize that these little guys are at your mercy and it is up to you and nobody else! I wish I could help you I would love another baby duck.oh ya, ducks are the messy ones but they will bring you years of joy and laughter! Mine has he is one of the family, has his own pond he swims in gets into a cage on our back porch at night (so he is safe from the coyotee) and even lets me hold him like a baby.! Hi im pretty sure ducklings still have to be kept under a lamp when they are really young as i had to do that with my 2 when they were babies so i think its best you leave them in there or take a box and put a lamp into it to keep them warm
