What would be the best way to buy a parrot (aferican grey)
After alot of research i have decided that i would like to buy an Aferican congo grey parrot. Which would be the best way to buy one (breeder, rescue ec ec) and If annybody has anny information on this speces it would be great to hear!
Answers:If you can find a reliable breeder where you can see the bird as it is being hand reared when you want is the best way to assure yourself that you are getting what you want.
Buying from a rescue centre is the best way if you have the time to take on a bird that may be traumatised after being separated from its home and partners. The birds do not think of you as their owners but their mates in the flock ( your family).
If you have the time to take on a small child then you have the time for a parrot in your life. These lovely birds have the same intelligence as a three year old and need as much time and attention. Would you leave a child locked in a cage all day with only coloured block to play with?
I would go through a rescue center. Thats what I did with my girl! They will have them checked for any diseases and all those other bird things. Buying from a breeder if not a good one can be asking for trouble. I'm not saying every breeder is bad but there are alot of them out there that are. Getting a rescue bird is so rewarding!
You're the only one that can decide on whether to get your African grey from a rescue center or from a breeder. You'll want to do your own research by visiting a couple of different places to see if you connect with any of the birds. A lot of the time, the bird picks you. African greys are very intelligent parrots, and need a lot of stimulation. You'll want to make sure that you have different types of bird toys for them to play with as well as enough time to work with your bird and spend time with it each day to make sure that it is not getting bored.
Rescues and breeders are both great options. Definitely avoid pet stores. I know the name of an AWESOME breeder who can most likely put you in contact with someone in your area. She is one of the best and can answer any and all grey questions. We got our little girl from her and couldn't be happier. If you have any specific questions or just want to chat please feel free to contact me anytime. Send me and email or text message and I'll pass on her contact information and website address. They're amazing birds..you've made a pretty good choice :)
Well, you could always go to pet stores or bird stores and you may find what your looking for if not you could try some place else.
Rather look for someone selling theirs.
I have had 4 of them. They are the smartest bird this far.Dont buy from a store .Find a good breeder that has handfeed each one of them.Place an order and if this bird is for woman then it should be feed by a woman. If its for a man then feed by a man.And you must be devoted to this bird. There friendship with you will be very devote to you. so be ready to spind time. birds are very easy depressed. and needs lots of time with people.
