My personal favorite is a giant African milipede. They are unique, they are fun to hold, and they practically take care of themselves. There is no exspensive food to buy, no vet bills, and best of all, you don't have to clean out their cage! You can play with them if you want or never pick them up at all and they don't care either way. They are the ultimate low maintenance but totally unique pet.

A yorkshire terrier. It's a dog that's full of surprises. They are very expensive though. If you ever get one, do research on it first and pay special attention to it when it comes home! :)

I think it totally depends on your lifestyle and what you consider "fun".

A friend of mine had Hermit Crabs that she was simply nuts about.

Another friend of mine has fish including an Angel fish. Just for fun, I decided to try and train the fish. So I chose a behavior I thought would be easy to reinforce: eating from my fingers.

The fish now eats directly from my fingers and will follow my hand for the food.

The next thing I'm going to try and teach her is to swim in a circle before receiving the food.

So you see, you can have fun with just about anything if you find a way to interact with them.

Just be sure to choose a species you are able to take care of properly and that you enjoy spending time with.
