Whats causing my Lady Gouldian finch to make strange noises2007-11-24 17:26:11
Just last week a finch breeder gave me a male and female couple. The hen seems fine but I noticed that the male makes a strange sound quite often. It sounds like a series of squeals. The best way I can describe this sound is by sucking in air through your two front teeth. Is this normal or is this cause for concern?
Answers:Gouldian song is a very high pitched cheeping and usually only te male sings. These birds do not make the best parents and it is usually beter to foster any eggs under bengalese finches who will usually raise any things.
Best of luck with these wonderful little birds.
I used to have Lady Gouldians and I think I remember the finches making a different noise than regular finches
just keep an eye on them to make sure they are okay
Same thing that makes you make strange noise. To each its own. give them some privacy!!
As suggested before keep an eye on them just to be safe, but he may just be singing. Male Gouldian finches sing and make various noises, so there is a good chance he's just making a little song.
It is probably just the male trying to 'court' the female. The male Lady Gouldian does sing, but it's not as "pretty" (to our ears) as some of the songs sung by other species.
It's probably ok, just keep an eye on them
he doesn't fancy his bird.
