Whats the best way to wash a white 4H fair chicken
We want to get them nice for the fair but are first time chicken show people- so any help from the old timers and pros would be nice! Thank you.
Answers:Use baby shampoo. We have a white Goffin's Cockatoo and she looks beautiful when she's clean. The more subtle colors of her come out and the baby shampoo is gentle to her skin and eyes. The only drawback is it dries out the feathers if you do it too much, so no more often than once/week. (BTW it's easiest if you take the bird in the shower with you, they love the blow dryer afterward.)
can you power wash them at the quarter car wash?cluck cluck
you can use a dry shampoo, you can get this at any feed store.
A properly cared for chicken should not need a bath..it should have a nice clean fluffy bum,and not require a bath.
I have taken white chickens in 4-H one time before and what I did worked really good.
Buy some whoolite and some blueing.
Then put some blueing in water, But make sure it only makes the water light sky blue! if you get to much it will make your chickens blue!
Wash them in that then put some woolite in the rinse water and your finished-oh yea.dry them with a blowdryer!
The blueing makes them white, the woolite makes them fluffy and the blowdryer makes them fluffy.
And right before your show but cooking oil on thier beaks, combs, and feet. Good luck!
