Whats the next trick to do
There are so many wonderful things you can teach your bird. This is a form of communication that allows you to spend time with him, be constructive, and actually communicate with him. Think about it: You ask him to do something and he complies? That is communication!
There are lots of websites available to help you with positive reinforcement training. "Google" : "positive reinforcement training" and there will be tons of information available. It doesn't matter if it's about birds, dogs or kids, you will get the idea from any website.
Good Luck!
If I can be of any assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.
They learn the step up petty easy because they want on you anyway so they just step up. I have been trying to train mine to tell me to take her back to the cage to poop but no luck. The sun conure got that one down to an art in the first 6 or 7 months. And he learned to talk at 6 months old. But I really don't feel the tiel is as smart of a bird. This might take some time.
talking or whistling. play dead and curse
All three of my cockatiels have learned to give kisses. While I have them on my hand, I will kiss the to of their beak, and they will strat to make a kissing sound. They also do this though the bars of their cage and when they want the extra attention.
My oldest cockatiel was badly neglected and unsocialized when I got her, so that was the first thing that I taught her to do. Now she is ALWAYS wanting her kisses.
Good luck.
