Where Do You Keep All Your Bird Cages2007-11-24 17:17:46

For people who have quite a few parrots indoors, where do you personally put their cages?

Are they all together in a family room (or other room where they can often see you) or in seperate rooms throughout the house or in a bird room or other?

Also, what are people's opinions on bird rooms (I mean when one room is used for putting all the cages in... blah.. 'bird room' can mean different things...)?

well if i was to have a parrot or parrots i wouldnt seclude them in a room by themselves together. id probably put them in front of windows with the blinds open so they can see outside and such. the cages wouldnt be to close together or they would probably sqwock a lot. id put them on opposite sides of the room to also even the room out a bit. probably some non poisonous plants around their cages and whatnot just bc.

You never want to keep them in front of a window. Drafts and overheating are deadly to birds.

I keep some of my parrots in the family room, their cage anyway, as they are always where I am unless they are sleeping eating etc. I also keep some in my bedroom.

Fortunately, parrots are for the most part odorless or at least not objectionable - so most indoor areas (except kitchens where there are bad fumes) are acceptable. I interact with my birds frequently, I like haveng them around and I like to dpend time near them so I put them where I spend most of my day.

I have three bird cages. I have two parakeets in a cage in my living room. They are in the corner away from any drafts but can clearly see out the window. I have a cockateil and quaker parrot and there cages are in my office. They keep each other company. I spend alot of time on the computer in the evening. I figure they keep each other company during the day while I am at work. They are out and about during the evening when I am home.
